Descriptif Gite:
En haut du petit village pittoresque de Canaveilles, cette maison de village a conservé son charme avec ses murs en pierres, sa cheminée, ses planchers en bois et ses plafonds aux poutres apparentes.
Elle a été rénovée avec goût et offre tous les conforts, rustiques et nécessaires.
C'est un lieu idéal de détente, point de départ de circuits de randonnées permettant de découvrir en pleine liberté des vestiges culturels, chapelles romanes, gravures rupestres,...
Pour ceux qui privilégient les activités plus sportives et le contact avec la nature, sources d'eau chaude, torrents, chapelets de lacs, réserves naturelles, offrent un réel dépaysement régénérateur, loin de l'agitation de la vie citadine.
C’est une bonne base pour explorer les Pyrénées et faire des excursions en Espagne, sur la côte Méditerranéenne et en Andorre.
Canaveilles est situé a une altitude de 975 m, dans les Pyrénées-Orientales et les trois derniers kilomètres depuis la Route Nationale 116 se font sur une route de montagne à une seule voie
La maison étant à flanc de montagne, elle a deux entrées : une en bas et une en haut.
Vu les rues abruptes et étroites du village, il faut garer la voiture sur un parking et se rendre à pied à la maison.
La pièce de vie – à l’étage supérieur- dispose d’une cuisine toute équipée, d’un salon avec une cheminée donnant sur un balcon jouissant d’une vue magnifique sur le Canigou - montagne sacrée des Catalans, d’un WC et d’une mezzanine avec un lit -au sol- de 140Cm.
L’étage en dessous dispose de deux chambres –l’une avec un lit de 140 Cm et l’autre avec deux lits de 90 Cm– et d’une salle de douche –lavabo et WC;……..et du réfrigérateur.
Et au rez-de-chaussée il y a la machine à laver, l’étendoir à linge et la table à repasser.
La propriétaire habite la maison voisine et parle français et anglais.

Villefranche : 16 km, cité médiévale du 15e siècle, avec d'imposantes fortifications, dominée par une citadelle construite par Vauban : le château-fort Liberia; église du 12e siècle où l’on peut admirer de nombreuses œuvres d’art du 14e siècle ; petites boutiques d’artisanat ; restaurants, gare pour le “Petit train jaune”: excursion panoramique d’une journée à travers les Pyrénées.
Vinça : 35 km, lac, planche à voile.
Collioure : 80 Km joli port de pêche typique sur la Méditerranée, dominé par le château des rois de Majorque (12e siècle) et fortifié par Vauban ; l’église Notre-Dame-des-Anges dont le clocher au dôme rose est l’ancien phare du vieux port abrite de beaux retables.
Prades : à 25 km, a été rendue célèbre par le violoncelliste catalan, Pablo Casals. Il a institué un festival de musique de renommée internationale qui a lieu tous les ans dans l'abbaye voisine de St-Michel de Cuxa, de fin juillet à mi-août ; l’église Saint-Pierre du 12e et 17e siècle et ses retables ; marché le mardi et samedi, restaurants, cinéma, etc……….
Font Romeu : 40 Km en haut de la vallée, station de sports d’hiver, ski, raquettes, randonnées.
Puig Cerda : 40 Km ; en Espagne, grand marché le dimanche matin, magasins, restaurants.
Andorre : 100 Km vallée de haute montagne, magasins.

Description of Gite:
At the top of picturesque Canaveilles, this typical village house has retained its rustic charm, being built of mountain stone, with exposed beams inside, and a traditional fireplace.
It has been modernised with taste and has all modern comforts.
The house is an ideal place for relaxation, and an excellent base for walking and for car journeys, both of which offer easy access to cultural sites, Romanesque chapels, stones engraved with early writing, beautiful and ancient church interiors with wooden artefacts going back to the 12th century.
Those who prefer more sporting activities in the unspoilt and rich environment of this area, with its many natural hot springs, waterfalls, lakes and natures reserves will find a complete and restorative change, far from normal busy everyday life.
It is also a good starting place for excursions to Spain, the Mediterranean cost and Andorra.
Canaveilles is at an altitude of 975 m in the Pyrenées-Orientales. The road from the National Road 116 is 3 km in distance, single track, with passing places.
The house is built on the mountainside, and there are two entrances one at the front on the ground floor and the other at the back on the top floor.
The village streets are narrow and steep, so cars have to be left in the parking (a distance of about 200-m).
The main living space, on the top (second) floor has fully-fitted kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a toilet, and a mezzanine with a 120 cm wide bed. This living-room open on to a balcony with a magnificent view over the Canigou, sacred mountain of the Catalans, and many high surrounding mountains.
The first floor has two bedrooms, one with a double bed of 140 cm and the other with two single beds of 90 cm. There is a shower room with a washbasin and a toilet.
On the ground floor, there is a washing machine, clotheslines and an ironing table.
The owner is living near by and speaks French and English

Villefranche at 16 km. medieval walled town of 15th century. Fortified by Vauban, with the fortress of Château Liberia above, the church of 12th century ,many craft shops, and restaurants. Villefranche is also the starting point for the little yellow train (Le Petit Train Jaune) for a panoramic and impressive journey through the mountains.
Vinça at 35 km. lake with swimming beach, and windsurfing.
Collioure at 80 Km. A charming and ancient toron on the Mediterranean, with a château of the kings of Majorca 12th century, again fortified later by Vauban; the church of Notre Dame des Anges whose pink bell tower was the ancient lighthouse of the port and which contains beautiful altar pieces.
Prades at 25 km. Made famous by Pablo Casals, the famous cellist, who founded the music festival, now renowned world-wide, which takes place every year between the end of July and mid-August. The festival uses many of the ancient churches and the Abbey of Saint Michel de Cuxa in a nearby village, which is also a stage on the famous Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage. Markets Tuesday and Saturday morning, restaurants, cinema, shops, etc…
