hey there,

i was wondering how the chambres d'hotes system works - do you have to be a member (a bit like the yha) or can anyone just turn up?


am planning a two-week cycling trip around the loire valley in july and would prefer not to have to carry all my camping gear!

Hi,

I'll answer this as no one else has!!

No...you don't need a membership or anything like that to stay in a chambres d'hotes. It's just like a bed and breakfast in other parts of the world. You will be staying in someone's house so you should normally book ahead to make sure there is space.

Perfect for a cycling trip in the Loire as you should have a fair idea of the distances you will cover each day and you can plan out your stays in advance accordingly
