Description of B&B:

In the heart of Chalais opposite the town hall is the hotel Maison Charles Maurice, a 19th century period building entirely renovated and offering six appointed bedrooms on 3 floors. Walk up the alley and at the top, to the rights, you will find the flowered courtyard where breakfast is served on a sunny morning. The hotel taks its name from Charles-Maurice, Prince of Talleyrand-Périgord, a renowned historical figure in French history and owner of the imposing Chateau that dominates the village. Interiors are sober and refined, rich in natural materials and presented in a cameo of earthly hues, and a large period staircase takes you up to the four bedrooms and two suites. Original parquet floors and joinery have been renovated, giving an air of authenticity to the building and creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The bedrooms have been appointed with taste and comfort and a tinge of modernity. Room rates vary according to the season from 44€ a night per room. Breakfast is 8€ for a range of breads, pastries, cheese and ham, and seasonal fruits. The hotel also offers gift vouchers and make an ideal present. They cost 169€ which includes a weekend for two, comprising of two nights with breakfast, a welcome fully stocked fridge and a bottle of champagne!
The company SHELBOURNE France SARL, owner of the hotel, also provides rental cottages at The Domaine du Grand Tourtre in Chalais for a short or a long stay as well as The Domaine de Cabosse in Montagrier (Dordogne) for as well short or long stays.

Aux portes de la Charente et de la Dordogne, il fait bon s'arrêter dans cette belle maison : accueil chaleureux, très belles chambres qui allient le style ancien au confort moderne, petit-déjeuner pris sur la terrasse, wi-fi, ...
