We offer characterful yet comfortable rooms which we believe are competitively priced. All of our rooms have been recently refurbished and each has an ensuite shower room/WC. Our room rates include a substantial continental breakfast and home-cooked evening meals are also available on the premises for a supplement. Use of the sauna and hot-tub is also possible, subject to availability and for a supplement. We are situated in a country village midway between north and south coasts, and midway between Brest and Rennes, with beautiful countryside, forests, lakes, a canal, and monuments nearby.
Description of L'Ancien Presbytère Bed & Breakfast:Peter and Keith invite you to stay in their characterful yet comfortable house: ' The Old Rectory' in the village of Lescouet-Gouarec. This is a very quiet country location in stunning countryside with far reaching views to enjoy by day, and dark starry skies by night.
The house has four guest rooms, three with a double bed and one with a double bed and a single bed. All rooms have ensuite shower rooms and WC's. Towels are provided. All bedrooms have electric heating, and the ground-floor is heated with wood burners. There is wi-fi available throughout the house and guests are welcome to use the lounge where French and English TV are also available. The house also has a large garden, with outside seating areas available for guests.
The room rates include a substantial continental breakfast. On request (and generally subject to 24 hours notice) home-cooked evening meals are available: a four course meal (starter; main; cheeses; dessert; wine and other drinks) for 17,50 euros per person. The hosts always dine with the guests.
There is a sauna and a hot-tub on the premises where guests may book a session. The hot-tub is heated with a wood-stove and sessions must therefore be booked in advance. There is a supplement of 15,00 euros per session per couple for use of the sauna and hot-tub. This includes additional towels.
Lescouet-Gouarec is midway between north and south Brittany coasts, and midway between Brest in the west and Rennes in the east. The location is ideally situated for those who wish to tour the region by car. For those who are travelling by bike, we are in the vicinity of the Nantes – Brest canal. We are 12km from Gouarec and 10 km from the Pont-Even lock at Plelauff.
For walkers, there are many country and woodland walks available nearby. For those who are interested in fishing or boating, we are 5km from the lake at Langoelan (L'Etang du Dordu), 15km from the lake at Pont Samuel (Silfiac) and 18km from the lake at Glomel (Etang du Coronc). The Lac de Guerledan is about 20 km away (L'Anse de Sordain).
For those interested in history, there are two churches in our village and other chapels nearby. There is also an ancient menhir about 2km from the house. The Gallo-Roman quarry at Locuon is about 8km away. Further afield are Les Forges des Salles (15km) and L'Abbaye de Bon Repos (17km).
