Description of B&B:

The Château de la Sauvatte, built in 1837, is located in the centre of France, in the département’ of Allier, which forms part of the Auvergne region.
The Château is in a big and quiet park only few kilometers from the highway A71, which leads from Paris to the Mediterranean sea, and from the RN79, the most important east-west connection between the Rhone Valley and the Atlantic ocean.
It is an ideal location for relaxing holidays in a rural setting with a myriad of possibilities for excursions. It is also very useful for a stop on the way to the Atlantic or the Southeast of France. Family excursions by bike or daily exercise are possible thanks to the well-established secondary road system which has very little traffic. This is just one of the many possibilities in the Bocage Bourbonnais. Dogs are also welcome.
We rent 3 units with private bathrooms, showers and toilets. The three units consist each of 2 independent rooms with beds for each 2-3 people. Our offer is very adequate for couples, families and groups. All rooms are on the second floor and face South. We also offer ‘Table d’Hôte’, which consist of dinner with the house owners. Please make a reservation ahead of time.
On the ground floor of the Château de la Sauvatte there is the dining room with access to the garden. The living room with an extensive library and many games, as well as an old kitchen (with a table-tennis) are also common rooms. There is extensive information available to help you plan your excursions and we are available to give you tips. If necessary, we can also lend you the street maps necessary for your trips.

Directions from Le Montet, Allier

You should always pass through Le Montet, except if you arrive from St. Pourçain sur Sioule. You can find Le Montet on every map of France on the RN 79. The Château de la Sauvatte is approximately 4km South of Le Montet in the direction of St. Pourçain sur Sioule, close to the D1.

In Le Montet, take a turn at the first main intersection in direction of St. Pourçain sur Sioule and take the D1 (there are boards with the B&B symbol and ‚La Sauvatte’). At the post office stay on the right on the D1 and after approximately 3.5km turn left at the intersection in direction of ‚La Sauvatte’. After 300m there is the entrance to a tree-lined road which leads to the house.

If you are arriving from St.Pourçain sur Sioule, you should take the same intersection, which is approximately at 4km of Le Montet to the right in direction of Treban or ‘La Sauvatte’. After 300m there is the entrance to a tree-lined road which leads to the house.

Do not attempt to reach the house through Tronget, which is only 1km from Le Montet. There are no indicators along this road.
