Château de Rère, Theillay, 41300

Introduced by Paris-Match as one of the most striking properties in Sologne, the castle of Rère was built in the 17th century by Count Pierre d'Orleans on the remains of a feodal castle. One of the most ancient family properties in France, it has been handed down from father to son for 22 generations. This ensured that the castle kept its charm and authenticity. In addition to a gite in front of the castle, three rooms and a suite are in the castle's VIP section. They combine modern comfort and old France charm, with view on the Rere river and the Sologne forest. Billiard room, swimming pool and wi-fi are available.

A Wonderful Experience
Review by: Rana George, Juin 14 2012 8:35PM
It can not be described only felt and experienced. After a long flight, then couple of hours drive from Paris, we were all tired and hungry especially the kids. As soon as we arrived we were in awe..the long driveway, the 2 towers, the chateau.. our boys (7,10,and 14) were super excited "it even has a moat!!" they all screamed. We arrived to heartfelt welcome from Alberic and Mary. We walked into a beautiful majestic castle, filled with rich history and old charm without sacrificing modern amenities. The bedrooms were comfortable with beautiful lush serene views, we had 2 rooms in the main chateau, each with its private bathroom. Alberic and Mary made sure we were settled and sent us right away to a nearby local restaurant. The breakfast was another story, the boys were looking forward every morning to what they called "a royal breakfast", it was made with a lot of love and generosity, nothing was missing from the croissants, french baguette, cereals, eggs, cheese, fruits, jams, yogurts, Nutella, etc..to the divine hot chocolate, teas, juice and coffee.
Alberic and Marie were the ever perfect hosts, super helpful in everything we needed from helping us with our itinerary to caring for our well being specially when I twisted my ankle, Mary right away gave me a bandage wrap with some homeopathic pills that helped almost immediately. That personal touch and treatment made all the difference.
Alberic and Mary welcomed us into their home, they were kind, warm, generous, charming and fun to talk to, they also made sure we had plenty of privacy. Thanks to them our vacation was unforgettable, we feel we made new friends.
I just wish we booked more days at Chateau de Rere, that is our only regret.
Thank you so much Alberic and Mary, words can not express our gratitude and the wonderful experience we had.
We will be back for sure :)
