Description of B&B:

Le Grand Saule is a spacious and elegant home which nestles below an XIth century donjon in the pretty, historical village of Moncontour.
The house contains a large, beamed lounge / dining area which has access to and looks out onto the beautiful, sunny garden. In the lounge can be found both English satellite and French television, a stereo, DVD and CD library. There is a beautiful cosy wood burner for those chilly winter evenings. Breakfast can be taken here in the lounge/dining area overlooking the garden or out on the patio amongst the roses and herbs.
Le Grand Saule offers an elegant and spacious family room with a double and a single bed, with the option of a further two single beds and/or a cot (cot and highchair are available at no extra cost). The room is ensuite with french and english tv, tea and coffee making facilities, and overlooks our very beautiful sunny garden and the river and forest to the rear. A double room is also available which is also elegant and spacious and overlooks the garden, river and forest. The room is ensuite with both a bath and separate shower; it has french and english tv and drink making facilities. The room has a double bed and has ample room for a further single bed. All rooms are equipped with beautiful crisp white linen sheets, embroidered pillow cases and towels - and kingsized quilts!
The house is set in its own private grounds and offers secure parking. The garden borders the pretty meandering river Dive and the forest to the rear. There are numereous walking routes and areas for fishing. At the rear of the garden can be found an original medieval ball from a catapult from the seige of Moncontour - which was found in the River Dive, which backs onto the garden.
Moncontour is a pretty, historical town with all amenities including a supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy, bank, post office, doctor and dentist. At the far side of the village can be found a water sports lake with a safe, family friendly beach for swimming - it also provides mini golf, childrens play area, auberge and bar.
Le Grand Saule Chambre d'Hote is just 45 minutes from Poitiers and the theme park Futuroscope to the south and similar distance to the Loire Valley Chateaux.
