Description for B&B:
Discover the Clos ChavignyThe successive owners who have preserved with passion its exceptional architecture have carefully kept this residence, listed monument.
We have the heart to get on the long-term undertaking of our predecessors and to carefully look after the last impressive witness of one of the most beautiful Chateaux of the Loire Valley. This chateau was Built by Charles Le Muet, King’s architect, for two Cardinal Richelieu ‘friends, the Bouthillier couple.
It was partially destroyed at the beginning of the XIX th century.
Another witness of this chateau is the chapel which shelters a remarkable carved decoration, which covers its dome and its walls. Executed in 1643, it’s the spectacular example of the art during this century usually called in France “ le grand Siècle”.
It can be visited upon request.
In the heart of the Loire Valley, live unique moments in a magnificent setting.
The staffs of the chateau were living in this part of the property, which has kept its outside architecture and its huge fireplaces as well. The formal listed garden and its swimming pool are the indispensable complements to enjoy your stay in Touraine in a setting worthy of a Loire valley Chateau.
Period Furniture and art pieces, which adorn rooms, give a unique character and a rare authenticity at the residence. It reigns a warm atmosphere, hushed and tinged with a very discreet refined luxury.
