Oradour sur Glane, qui autrefois, était un bourg paisible et dynamique avec son tramway et ses nombreux commerces va connaître l’horreur le 10 juin 1944.
En début d’après-midi, vers 14h00, près de 200 soldats allemands de la division « Das Reich » encerclent le bourg et rassemblent la population sur le Champ de foire, prétendant à un simple contrôle d’identité.
Les hommes sont répartis en 6 groupes dans diverses granges d’Oradour tandis que les femmes et enfants sont regroupés dans l’église.
En quelques minutes, les hommes sont abattus puis brulés puis c’est au tour des femmes et enfants de subir le même sort et d’être brulés dans l’église.

English Description:

Oradour sur Glane had a peaceful and thriving thriving village atmosphere, with its tramway and numerous business before the horror of the 10th June 1944. In the beginning of the afternoon, about 2.00 pm, nearly 200 german soldieurs from the "Das Reich" division surrounded the town and gathered the people on the grass of the market square, under the guise of an identity controle. They then separated men from women. The men were divided into 6 groups and moved into different barns within Oradour, while the women and children were moved into the Church. After a while, the germans brought in machine guns, shooting into the crowd. The barns were then set alight. Meanwhile the women and children from the Church waited their turn.
