We are just off the N24 which runs from Lorient to Rennes, within 5 miles of Ploermel, from where the D766 runs to the north coast via Dinan to St Malo and the N166 runs south to Vannes on the Golfe de Morbihan.

When you arrive in Josselin, find the road which runs between the River Oust (Nantes-Brest Canal) and the Chateau. There is a one way system prevailing, so if you miss the turning you have to go round again! As you come to the end of this road, it veers to the left and rises until it reaches a junction. This is Place St Nicholas, the huge castle gates will be on your left hand side. Ahead of you to the right is a Bar-Tabac called The Rotonde, slightly to the left is a green fronted flower shop. Rue de la Carrière leads upwards immediately to the left of it. Take this road for about 50 metres then turn right into Impasse de la Carriere (it has recently had new tarmac). Drive to the end and there we are!

The perfect hideaway, yet close to all amenities and fantastic walks. We were made most welcome and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of breads, jams, cereals and great coffee!
Thank you Valerie and Darren.
PS - Your walnuts are sooo tasty too :)

Charming place

We were very fortunate to come across Val and Darren's place. It's a little haven of charm and comfort. We stayed in the cuckoos nest which did not lack in anything, even has a oyster knife now. We will definitely be back hopefully soon.

Jewel of Josselin
Review by: Sara, Mar 4 2015 10:02PM
The location couldn't have been better for me. Coming from a busy city I wanted to get away from it all but didn't want to spend hours in the car to reach the shops or attractions. The town had a lively atmosphere with a busy market and castle was stunning {worth a visit} overlooking the canal. But once you turned into the drive you were completely away from it all, surrounded by pretty gardens and lush woodland. The property was spotless - better than many 5 star hotels I have been to - as well as very comfortable. The owners made me feel very welcome and were able to give lots of tips on the best eateries or places to visit. I will definitely be back!
