Casseloup is situated in a small floral mountain hamlet. The nearest large village is Castillon (5 kms) which has shops, chemist, doctor, post office, café, bar/brasserie. The nearest town is Saint Girons at 25 mins. Toulouse airport is 1h30 mins. Carcassone airport is 2 hours. A car is essential. Directions to the house will be given when required.
Bethmale and the surrounding rivers and valleys provide fantastic opportunities for water sports including, canoeing, white water rafting and fishing. Limitless walks provide the enthusiast with access to the most spectacular views, in which bears, wild boars, chamois, the Merens wild horses and a wealth of bird life are amongst the permanent residents.
In winter roaring fires greet the weary traveller after a day on the local ski slopes. Winter season from Dec until April there is ski-ing at various ski resorts. Le Guzet is the closest and takes about one hour from door to door.
The valley is famous for it’s unique dance troupe and one of the last active clog makers in France still has a workshop in the charming olde Worlde village of Aret.
Culture abounds in the region with numerous historic churches, museums and galleries to visit.Numerous cosy sofas in the sitting room are available for more sedate activities and spectacular views are available on the enclosed panoramic terrace.
