Fran, Rodger and Debbie welcome you to their charming 19th century farmhouse, set in 48 acres of gardens, fields and woodland, including a 12 acre lake. Situated on the border of the Nievre, Burgundy and the Allier, Auvergne, we are ideally placed to explore both regions. The house is newly renovated and tastefully decorated to a high standard and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Le Colombier is a small hamlet 1 km from the pretty village of Dornes, providing all the basic amenities, including pharmacy, supermarket, patisseries, Tabac, bank, doctors, vets and a bar.

Within 20 minutes there are beautiful medieval towns, chateaux and the race track of Magny Cors.

B&B Description:

The bedrooms are named after the trees they overlook. They are clean, bright and airy and have been refurbished to a high standard, with comfortable beds and well sprung mattresses to ensure a good night’s sleep. The guest rooms all have refitted fitted en-suite or private bathroom/shower room with powerful showers and plenty of hot water. Towels are provided and changed every 2 days for longer stays. All rooms have tea & coffee making facilities.
Meals are served in the kitchen or in the garden, depending on the weather and your preference.

Traditional French breakfast is included in the price. Full English breakfast may be ordered the evening before at an additional cost. Home cooked evening meals are available with 12 hours notice.

We have a wood burning range cooker that also supplies the hot water and central heating. We are ecologically aware and endeavour to keep our carbon footprint down.

The lake: A stunning 12 acre water, surrounded by trees and farmland, where the only noise is a hawk mewing overhead, jays squabbling, running water and the odd tractor in the distance.
Fed by a small river, two streams and natural springs, the water quality is excellent, with plenty of natural bait. As the lake is river fed, a fishing licence is required, which can be purchased in the Tabac in the village.

Private off road parking.
