Description for Gite

MiKa-GaLe
(Ploerdut, Morbihan Region, Brittany)
3 Bedroom longere on 1.75 hectares of private garden/land
Comfortably sleeps 6 people
(special arrangements may be possible for a larger group size)
Location:
MiKa-GaLe is situated in a peaceful, rural setting at the edge of the village of Ploerdut. It is surrounded by rolling, green hills and quiet, wooded valleys that have been carved out by the area’s three rivers, Ellé, Scorff and Aër. There is an extensive network of footpaths in the surrounding countryside which transverse across open countryside, and also densely wooded hills/river valleys. It is an ideal location for good walking, running and cycling, bird-watching, photography, drawing and painting. The local area abounds in monuments, churches, chapels and historic, Medieval villages where time seems to have stood still. Ploërdut village is situated around a beautiful Medieval Church and boasts its own Boulangerie, crêperie, two friendly bars, an eatery, and a self-service shop, all within walking distance of the house. There is a multitude of interesting places to visit within half an hours drive, including the mysterious Chapelle St. Barbe (ring the massive bell), St. Fiacre, Le Faouet market hall, Les Rochers Du Diable (white water kayaking), the pretty Vallee-du-Scorff (picnic here), the Lac de Guerladan (boating from a tree-shaded beach), and many local street markets, notably Hennebont, Rostrenen, and further afield Vannes on a Wednesday.
The nearest town is Guemene Sur Scorff (10 mins away) and it offers a pretty historic centre with a weekly market (Thursday mornings), bars, restaurants, banks, a post office, cinema, traditional small shops, gas station, and two supermarkets. A fresh seafood truck comes to town twice a week. Guémené-sur-Scorff sits on the river Scorff which meanders through unspoilt rolling farmland, and is close to the ancient Fôret de Quenecan (8 km). The town was once the seat of the Dukes of Rohan from the 13th to 15th century and it is valued for its ancient buildings and has one of Brittany's oldest taverns, Les Trois Marchands, that has been serving customers since the mid 1600s.
The larger historic city of Pontivy is a 20 minute drive away, and sits on the Nantes-Brest Canal. The renovated tow-paths of the Nantes-Brest canal provide miles of beautiful walking and cycling. Nearby cities/towns of interest include: Vannes, Josselin, Pont-Aven, Concarneau, Quimper and Carnac. The stunning lake resorts of Priziac, Langoelan and Lac Guerledan offer beaches, safe swimming and water sports. The picturesque rugged coastline and sandy beaches of Southern Morbihan are an easy 40 minute drive away. At every turn, you will be tempted by the gastronomic delights of Brittany, with fresh produce, and a delicious selection of breads and biscuits, cheeses and seafood. Don't forget to sample the traditional Breton Crepes and Cider!
Description:
MiKa-GaLe is more of a home than a holiday accommodation, (as expressed by previous guests) and has all the amenities you would need to ensure that your stay is relaxing and hassle-free. The traditional Breton stone longere has been fully renovated, however it has maintained its many unique character features such as: exposed beams, wooden floors, stone fire-place, French doors and shutters, gabled windows, and exposed stone work on walls, staircase and around windows and doors.
On the ground floor is a fully fitted, modern kitchen with everything that you need: stove/hob, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blenders, complete sets of pots/pans/baking trays, toaster, kettle and all necessary kitchen utensils. The open plan kitchen flows to the spacious dining room and then to the cosy lounge room. The lounge is outfitted with comfortable sofas and arm-chairs, TV/DVD (delivering all the British free view channels), CD player, and also a wide selection of DVDs, CDs, books and board games. A central feature is the log wood-burner. French doors open out to the garden and sun terrace from the lounge and dining room areas providing not only scenic views but also easy access for outdoor dining and sun-baking. Sun lounges and outdoor garden furniture are available for your use.
The ground floor also provides a laundry area with modern washing machine and dryer. There is a utilities room (vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, clothes hanger) and a toilet also located on the ground floor.
On the first floor, there are three bedrooms all decorated and equipped to a high standard. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and vanity. Two bedrooms have double beds, while the third bedroom has two single beds. There is also a sofa bed in one of the bedrooms and fold-away beds can also be set up if necessary.
