Description:

Description for B&B:

This maison particulière has 4 very large guestrooms, individually styled with private shower rooms, and wonderful views for painting. Once the residence of the Duke de Lévis-Mirepoix, the charm and character of the house are crowned by a spectacular gallery with stained glass windows. Rococo plaster and decorative tiles. Léran is a charming bastide village dating back to the 13th century, its skyline dominated by the duke's massive chateau. Art and film-making activities are offered at Le Castelou, with a choice of courses for all abilities as well as painting easels, studios and digital media facilities. The décor of our 4 bedrooms is designed to maximise the feeling of space while promoting an appreciation of shapes and angles within the rooms. Le Belvédère has a staircase to its own private balcony with a breathtaking, panoramic view. It is ideal for enjoying an aperitif while admiring the architecture of the Chateau, the picturesque church of Léran or the spectacular Pyrenees mountains. La Belle Pyrène is spacious room with handsome views of the Pyrenees mountains. This aspect allows for plenty of warm atmospheric light in the afternoons and evenings. Even the ensuite shower room has a delightful view over the village roof tops to the Pyrenees. La Suite Léran comprises two adjoining bedrooms, with double and single beds, that together provide space and flexibility for couples, families or friends. Private shower room. The suite overlooks Cours St Jacques, part of an ancient pilgrimage route along the Pyrenees from France to Spain; the Camino Santiago de Campostella. La Suite Castelou is a grand sized room with its own salon area, en-suite shower room and separate private WC. This suite of over 50 m2 (550 sq ft) is ideal for people who like to stretch out. The windows, at tree-top level, offer splendid views of Cours St Jacques and the Pyrenees.

Directions

From Blagnac/Toulouse take the A61 on the peripherique and follow directions to Carcassonne, Barcelona and FOIX PEAGE (not Foix RN 20). Once on the A61, after passing the pèage, look for the A66 fork in the direction of Andorra. At the next péage, the road joins the N20 in the direction of Foix. Exit at junction 6 towards Mirepoix and Lavelanet. Join the D119 in the direction of Mirepoix (first exit of roundabout on right), continue through Les Pujols, Rieucros, Coutens and Besset before arriving at Mirepoix. Go straight on at the first roundabout on the outskirts of the town. At the second roundabout, turn right onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

From Carcassonne follow the D119 in the direction of Mirepoix. Continue through Montréal and Fanjeaux towards Mirepoix. After crossing the bridge, follow signs "toutes directions". At second set of traffic lights, turn left and then straight on at the roundabout onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

Pass through the village of La Bastide de Bousignac, before arriving at Aigues - Vives (approx. 8 minutes). When passing the sign announcing Aigues - Vives, slow down and indicate left because the left turn to Léran is hidden behind some buildings on the left hand side of the road. This is the first and only sign there is for Léran. The road (D28) will take you directly to the village, about 4 minutes drive.

After passing the church, turn right into cours St Jacques. The mairie/school is on the left. Le Castelou is the next building on the left, number 8 Cours St Jacques, just over the little crossroads. The house is pale yellow with white outlines around the windows.
